My Upskilling Story: Readiness IT build competitive advantage through certification

Readiness IT, a system integrator serving the telecom and media sectors since 2015, has made capability development and certification strategy a top priority over the past two years. As part of its leadership focus, the company set out to elevate its competence development programme and align it with global frameworks that support both its business strategy and delivery model.

To achieve this, Readiness IT chose TM Forum as its standard and reference model. Over the last two years, the company designed a certification programme specifically for solution architects and tech leads. As a result, 100% of its team has completed the TM Forum Fundamentals certification, with many now pursuing Practitioner-level certification—particularly in Open APIs. This certification path was deliberately chosen because it closely matches the daily work of Readiness IT teams, ensuring both relevance and strategic value.

The adoption of TM Forum certification has proven critical in tackling industry challenges. By leveraging TM Forum’s standardized frameworks, they established a common vocabulary, reducing friction and improving alignment both internally and with clients. In addition, TM Forum principles have been embedded into project delivery. This has streamlined workflows, eliminated the need to reinvent solutions, and improved project outcomes while saving valuable time.

Frameworks such as the Digital Maturity Model (DMM) have enabled Readiness IT to expand its role from delivering technology-based solutions to offering strategic guidance for customers. The DMM has also shaped a new service offering, helping clients address higher-level business needs. Meanwhile, the Open Digital Architecture (ODA) has enhanced the quality of technical pre-sales proposals. By mapping offerings to ODA and referencing TM Forum standards, Readiness IT has been able to deliver proposals that are more tailored, efficient, and business-relevant.

The impact of TM Forum certification is evident in tangible achievements. The launch of a new service offering, directly shaped by the Digital Maturity Model, provided clients with commercially relevant solutions beyond technical requirements. Additionally, Readiness IT achieved Open API certification for the Shopping Cart API, a milestone that validated its adherence to industry standards and reinforced its commitment to quality and interoperability. These successes have contributed to the company’s growth, strengthened client credibility, and advanced its innovation goals.
