How telcos can use WebAssembly with ODA Canvas to reduce application complexity
Several communications service providers (CSPs) are collaborating within TM Forum to explore the use of WebAssembly (Wasm), a W3C standard for universal computing that promises to make it much simpler to develop applications and securely run them anywhere to all sorts of devices.
The first stage of TM Forum members' work focused on realizing an Open Digital Architecture (ODA) Canvas on a WebAssembly cloud and then using it to pre-build components. The next phase will seek to demonstrate feature parity with the Kubernetes Canvas.
In this video, TM Forum’s Andy Tiller and Vance Shipley, CEO of Sigscale, discuss why telcos are interested in WebAssembly; how it fits within the telecoms environment, including ODA; and the work ongoing within TM Forum.
