Autonomous Networks: Empowering digital transformation

When in 2019 TM Forum set up the Autonomous Networks (AN) Program to provide an industry-led approach to end-to-end network automation, no one could have foreseen how the world’s sudden increase in reliance on communication services in 2020 would drive demand for self-serving, self-healing and self-assuring network capabilities. Since then, COVID-19 has accelerated global enterprise customers’ digital transformation programs, creating an opportunity for CSPs to unlock at least $700 billion in new revenues from industrial 5G and B2B2x opportunities.

CSPs’ ability to tap into these opportunities, however, will depend on how well their network capabilities and operations can handle the complex processes that will ensure end-to-end service lifecycle for a new wave of digital services and applications. AN will be essential to deliver truly connected enterprise B2B2x digital services that depend on massive connectivity, low latency and high reliability, especially in vertical industries such as smart health and manufacturing, as well as for smart cities and autonomous vehicles.

In this white paper, we look at the latest industry trends and progress in AN. Read it to discover current industry best practices, frameworks, methodologies, as well as the achievements of the Autonomous Networks Projects and the work of other standards development organizations in this space. The white paper will also provide updates on the different levels of automation criteria, the implementation methodology, reference business cases & solutions.
