We couldn’t have put it better: Crowdsourcing APIs
So just in case you missed this great
article by
Light Reading’s Carol Wilson, published right before the Christmas holiday, check it out. It includes an interview with the Forum’s very own Joann O’Brien, VP, Collaborative R&D, explaining what telecoms are doing with open APIs and why it matters – big time.
Now 19 of the world’s biggest network operators and ecosystem partners are contributing to TM Forum’s
Open APIs initiative as part of the ongoing efforts to enable telecom operators to expose digital assets as services. This will enable them to become platform-based businesses and help them build and play key roles within ecosystems of ecosystems.
The network operators are also insisting on support for the APIs in vendors’ products and services. Some leading vendors are also involved in and endorsing the open API manifesto. So far 19 service providers and partners have signed up to the Forum’s Open API Manifesto – the goal is 200 by the end of 2018.
The Forum’s Open Hack series will continue. The next one will be an
Enterprise Hack, held as part of TM Forum
Action Week, Feb. 6-7, Lisbon. Here developers from member companies can join to learn how TM Forum Open APIs enable new services to be rapidly created and easily managed.
Participants will receive an Open API qualification for successfully completing the hack.
