Open Hack: Turn IoT dreams into business reality in 48 hours

A trillion-dollar opportunity
There are very real opportunities out there – with the convergence of societal and business problems that need to be solved and the evolution of technologies such as open APIs, platforms, virtualized services and digital payments – and the time to seize them is now. The value of the API-enabled economy is estimated at some $2.2 trillion by 2018 and these tools combined with the right talent can realistically reinvent whole industries: think Uber, Airbnb, Bla Bla Car and 02 Drive (02 Drive uses TM Forum Open APIs). Previous Open Hack winners have included an application to protect people and property from forest fires; a solution to connect people who have a garden to share and those who’d like use of one, creating new ways to grow food and collectively care for plants; and an integrated, automatized cleaning solution for public spaces. Many of the tools on offer at the Open Hack have also been incorporated into proof of concept Catalyst projects. These projects bring together companies large and small to rapidly create solutions to common challenges. We are seeing APIs demonstrated as part of the solution for orchestrating hybrid networks, enabling independent living through remote healthcare monitoring, unlocking the value of data in smart cities and complying with forthcoming GDPR regulation. Bringing your idea (or enthusiasm to come up with one) to an Open Hack event such as this one allows you to focus on getting results, fast.
