"We have believed in TM Forum's global vision for the Telco industry since it's inception and the Open API program plays a key role in bringing this vision to life" - Manuel Aguiar, B/OSS Director, Altice Labs.
My API Story: Facilitating seamless communication
I currently serve as the Director of B/OSS at Altice Labs, where my journey began over 20 years ago as a software developer. Over the years, I’ve honed my skills and deepened my expertise through collaboration with CSPs around the world, embracing a wide range of cultures and challenges along the way.
What drives me is a passion for the positive impact technology can have on people’s lives and the value it brings to our customers. I’m inspired every day by the work we do and the talented individuals I have the privilege to work with.
The B/OSS landscape is undergoing rapid and profound transformation. Alongside industry leaders like TM Forum, we are laying the foundation for the future—fueled by advances in AI and ever-expanding computational capabilities. My team and I are committed to playing a central role in this evolution and in shaping the innovations it brings.

Our OSS solution is designed to cover the domains of network development and inventory, assurance, and service fulfillment where the integrations with the BSS (Northbound) and the network (Southbound) systems are critical to accelerate the time-to-market of innovative business models and new network technologies adoption.
These APIs are used within the order entry interface, enabling seamless integration with multiple BSS systems and ensuring effective network resource activation management. On a multi-tenant ecosystem, like a FTTH wholesaler solution, having TM Forum Open API standards are well known and help to streamline the development and the onboarding of new customers (tenants) reducing initial costs.
These APIs facilitate seamless communication by gathering everyone around the same technical language/concepts, helping us, our partners, and customers to reduce the risk of misunderstandings and simplifying complex project integrations. This enables our teams to focus on delivering real value to the stakeholders.
Historically, the complexity and cost of implementing certain changes within CSP ecosystems has often been a significant impediment. The adoption of Open APIs is facilitating the removal of these barriers. This will create is creating new opportunities, leveraging the evolution of services, and accelerating the transition to the digital era.
Our products are used globally. All projects from the last five years have been highly supported on Open APIs integrations. Our primary projects were in LATAM (where we are the leading OSS supplier for the neutral fiber wholesalers in Brazil), in North America and in Europe.
We have developed an E2E solution for FiberCo that can address the BSS and OSS components where the TMF Open APIs are the keystone on the integrations with dozens of tenants (ServCos), not only for service provisioning but also for assurance data visibility and operations.
Yes, we are also complementing our Service and Resource APIs with assurance domain APIs, such as: TMF642, TMF621 and TMF653 for Fault Management, Problem Management (Trouble Ticket) and Service Test components that are part of our assurance automation quest and AIOps strategy.
We have believed in TM Forum’s global vision for the Telco industry since it’s inception and the Open API program plays a key role in bringing this vision to life . Our commitment to this initiative remains strong, as we continue to invest in it with confidence in the value it brings to both our organization and our customers through standardization and best practices that reduce the integration complexity, time, and the risk of innovation projects. The widespread adoption of the Open API program across the industry further reinforces the strength and relevance of this approach.
