According to a recent study, 88 percent of the 1,425 IT executives surveyed by CA Techologies already have a DevOps approach in place or plan to adopt one within the next five years. Says Denise Dubie, Senior Principal, Content Strategy, at CA Technologies, “This strong endorsement can be attributed to the greater demands on IT to deliver apps faster and to the tangible benefits DevOps adopters are seeing.” Among the benefits of DevOps cited by respondents to the survey were:
The research shows DevOps delivers 18 percent faster time to market and 19 percent better app quality and performance. However, Dubie adds, “At the same time, the research makes it clear to achieve these positive results and better address these ever-increasing needs, enterprise IT and business executives will have their DevOps work to do. Investments in people, process and technology will only succeed in a culture finely tuned to DevOps.” Issues which survey participants continue to face and areas where they are using DevOps to address the challenges are: improving the quality and performance of applications; enhancing the end customer experience; and simultaneously deploying software across different platforms.
