Software is crucial to create and cancel services for customers, says John Byrne, Director, Strategy at Netcracker, along with the right internal tools and methodologies.
Successful transformation needs software, automation and a new culture
The elements of a successful digital transformation are on different levels, according to John Byrne, Director, Strategy at Netcracker. Software in essential to create an environment of composability and decomposability so operators to spin up use cases for customers with reuseable resources. The three basic performance metrics here are: operating costs; delighting customers with new network capabilities like 5G Advanced; and new revenues.
Regarding automation, Netcracker has worked with operators to implement closed loops in specific domains for some time. Byrne says are now at a point where AI can orchestrate those loops, moving operators towards autonomous networks.
The final piece of the transformation puzzle is the cultural element – tools and methodologies operators need internally, such as cloud native expertise and Ci/CD practices. Netcracker can offer them either as a managed service or help operators to implement them in house, having developed these capabilities over many years, working on transformation with customers like Swisscom and Virgin Media O2
