How 5G Value Plane enables seamless business to network integration
Amdocs’ Ron Porter, Director of Product Marketing, introduces 5G Value Plane which has emerged from the need for communications service providers to align and integrate their business and IT layers with the 5G network. Encompassing charging and policy functions and managed by a centralized catalog, 5G Value Plane acts as a centralized “5G brain” across the business, IT and network, and includes enriched data for monetization of the expanded 5G ecosystem.
Porter states: “We know of the control plane, and the user plane that we have already in the 5G core, and we see this need for this new value plane to connect the business and IT, and also partners and other enterprises, and allow them to seamlessly integrate with the network. This is not only from the functional perspective but also bringing on the different business considerations and tying in analytics and exposure of API's – I would say even to the extent of bringing the public cloud business model that we know, into the 5G network.”
