This year's Catalyst awards shine a spotlight on TM Forum members' innovation across AI, ODA and networks.
DTW Ignite: Agentic AI among winners in TM Forum Catalyst awards
Catalysts focusing on agentic AI stole the show at DTW Ignite 2025 across both Moonshot Catalysts and Innovation Catalysts. Find details of the winners below.
AI-powered legacy modernization to ODA
Achieving Open Digital Architecture (ODA) compliance at scale remains a complex challenge—especially for CSPs navigating legacy estates, which are often monolithic, outdated, and poorly documented—limiting agility and increasing operational costs. This Catalyst introduces a genAI-powered transformation model that modernizes legacy applications into cloud-native microservices mapped to the ODA framework, using a step-by-step smart factory approach.
By automating key phases of the modernization lifecycle, the Catalyst reduces manual effort and accelerates delivery, while GenAI bridges knowledge gaps by interpreting legacy logic that lacks documentation and makes continuous improvement through pattern recognition. This allows CSPs to modernize at scale while improving accuracy and consistency, and in addition helps evolve the ODA component model itself.
End-to-end service realization using intent-based networks
This Catalyst project helps CSPs overcome the challenges in trading off between scale, reliability and efficiency by shifting from task-based automation to intent-driven, autonomous network lifecycle management, enabling CSPs to manage planning, operations and decommissioning based on business goals such as cutting costs and boosting agility. By implementing TM Forum Open APIs, rApps and intent-based orchestration across service layers, the Catalyst builds a self-adaptive system. It also integrates the Autonomous Networks Reference Architecture with O-RAN interfaces to validate interoperability and close standardization gaps.
Monetizing federated connectivity for automotive OEMs
Championed by Toyota, Vodafone and the Automotive Edge Computing Consortium, this Catalyst sets out to provide via a centralized portal that gives Automotive OEMs full visibility into network deployment options, which in turn helps CSPs monetize Network APIs. Managed by the MNO as a Federation Broker, the portal allows OEMs to access the best Edge/MEC resources across networks, reducing deployment costs and accelerating the time-to-market for new vehicle applications. The Federation concept ensures efficient network handover across MNOs, enhancing service continuity and performance, while standardized APIs streamline solution reuse across various contexts, further lowering costs and boosting efficiency.
Agentic ODA for proactive customer experiences
This project introduces an agentic AI-powered telecom experience where AI agents embedded within ODA components proactively resolve customer issues and coordinate across systems without manual intervention. At its core is a Concierge AI Agent that monitors customer journeys, detects issues early, consults other domain-specific agents and delivers real-time, personalized support before the customer even reaches out. It showcases AI-to-AI collaboration across ODA components, proactive intent-driven service management and natural language APIs for agent interoperability.
This Catalyst has developed a new communication protocol for the Spatial Web using TM Forum and CAMARA Open Gateway APIs, enabling seamless interaction between digital and physical environments. It allows CSPs to manage Spatial Web nodes and offer spatial computing and positioning services as-a-service. By implementing TMF936 and TMF937 APIs, the Catalyst supports product catalog sharing and usage-based billing between operators and partners, creating key assets for Open Gateway monetization. It demonstrates how CSPs can tap into the Spatial Web ecosystem to offer immersive, API-driven services, unlocking new revenue streams and personalized experiences.
AI-enabled system for vehicle-road-cloud collaboration - Phase II
This project enables operators to enhance driving safety and traffic efficiency through an AI-enabled Vehicle-Road-Cloud Collaboration system that integrates AI, edge computing, and wireless connectivity. By providing services, such as open APIs of real-time traffic data, the system delivers precise information to urban planners for smart city applications. The project shows how network operators can play an important role in the smart mobility ecosystem and intelligent transportation, while reducing traffic fatalities and expanding affordable mobility.
AI-enhanced digital twins for best NPS network - Phase II
Traditionally, CSPs have measured customer experience with surveys that often fail to uncover the real causes of dissatisfaction. This Catalyst uses AI, digital twins and big data to transform how operators manage customer satisfaction. By simulating real-world network scenarios and identifying root causes of issues, it drives improvements across KPIs including Net Promoter Score (NPS), churn rate, complaint resolution time, network quality, marketing effectiveness, service response and employee satisfaction. The idea is to help CSPs deliver more personalized, reliable and efficient customer experiences in competitive and fast-evolving markets.
This Catalyst, which is championed by a dozen CSPs, enables a collaborative, multi-vendor ecosystem of autonomous AI agents. Instead of isolated scripts or siloed intelligence, it orchestrates specialized agents that work together across network domains. Building on the Phase 1 Incident Copilot, which automated single-domain fault handling, Agent Fabric now extends to cross-domain, allowing specialized agents to autonomously detect, diagnose and resolve faults across RAN, transport and core domains.
GenAI proactive customer care for 5G monetization
This Catalyst, which involves three CSPs, is developing a GenAI-powered contact center platform that anticipates customer needs, initiates proactive outreach, and adapts customer experience in real time. When high-value users face issues, for example, the platform can trigger proactive video sessions or suggest tailored upgrades, drawing on 5G to deliver media-rich, real-time services across different channels. GenAI agents manage routine queries, while embedded AI assistants help live agents with real-time transcription, recommended replies, and compliance prompts and omni-channel orchestration allows seamless switching between voice, WhatsApp, and video.
Digital Twin acceleration: Automate ODA Framework adoption using enterprise architecture tools
Championed by ten CSPs, the first phase of this Catalyst sets out to make it much simpler for CSPs to use ODA by harnessing APIs and AI to automate the importation of functional ODA blocks and components. In particular, it focuses on developing straightforward ways to import certain functional blocks and components from the ODA catalogue into an EAM enterprise asset management (EAM) tool. The output of the Catalyst also aims to make it easier for B2B2X partners to work with CSPs.
This Catalyst project empowers CSPs to proactively improve customer experience by collecting real-time connectivity data directly from end-user devices – securely and sustainably. Through a privacy-first, decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) approach, it gathers actionable insights with minimal impact on data plans or networks. These insights are combined with infrastructure metrics to create an end-to-end view of network performance. Using AI, digital twins, and XR-powered interfaces, the system detects performance issues, uncovers trends and recommends optimizations automatically. This helps operators shift from reactive to predictive operations, reduce churn and allocate capital more effectively, putting the customer experience at the heart of decision-making.
Predictive intelligence for optimized networks & enhanced experience resilience (PIONEER)
The PIONEER Catalyst enables telecom operators to break down data silos and unify their inventory by creating a standardized data fabric that powers autonomous network operations – from predictive AI troubleshooting and real-time asset visibility to scalable, AI-driven decision-making across domains like RAN, edge and IT. This team validated L3+ autonomous network use cases, helping CSPs automate operations, improve resilience, and accelerate their journey to intelligent, self-optimizing networks.

This catalyst aims to help terrestrial based service providers and satellite operators develop unified customer facing services that can support a digital first experience and unlock greater customer value.
An important use case is emergency response, where rescue teams in the field rapidly require full data connectivity in areas where terrestrial networks are either damaged or do not exist. An efficient IT solution will also allow the providers to collaborate commercially on bringing unified services to market and creating new revenue streams.
